Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Fork & Kite (“we”, “us”) collects when you use forkandkite.com and our emails, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we only ask for your email when you want something from us, we never sell your information, and you can leave anytime.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Your email address, when you sign up for our weekly email (“Your week, planned”) or ask us to email you a printable recipe card.
- Signup details that come with it: which form or recipe card you signed up from, the page you were on, and the date. We use this to send you the right card and to understand which recipes people love.
- Anything you send us when you email us.
Information collected automatically
- Basic site analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which measures visits (such as pages viewed, referring site, browser type and country) without using cookies and without building a profile of you.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical information such as IP address and browser details to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
- Email activity. Our email provider may record whether an email was delivered, opened or clicked, so we can keep our list healthy and send fewer emails people don’t want.
Information saved only on your device
Some features remember things in your own browser (local storage), not on our servers: your ingredient checklist, the dinners you add to “my week”, your recipe ratings, and whether you’ve already signed up. You can clear this anytime by clearing your browser’s site data.
Cookies
We don’t use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies. If we add advertising, affiliate programs or other tools that use cookies in the future, we’ll update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.
How we use your information
- To send the emails you asked for: your printable card and the weekly plan.
- To confirm your subscription (we use a double opt-in, so nothing is sent until you confirm).
- To answer your messages and requests.
- To understand what’s useful and improve our recipes and pages.
- To keep the site secure and prevent spam and abuse.
- To meet our legal obligations.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only with service providers that help us run Fork & Kite, under their own privacy and security commitments:
- Kit (ConvertKit), which stores our email list and sends our emails.
- Cloudflare, which hosts the site, runs our signup form and provides privacy-friendly analytics.
- Google Fonts, which serves the fonts on our pages. Your browser requests the fonts from Google, which receives your IP address.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users’ safety, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger or sale, in which case this policy will continue to apply.
Our emails
Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link and our mailing address. Unsubscribing removes you from future emails right away. You can also email [email protected] and we’ll remove you by hand.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address while you’re subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we may keep a record of your address and unsubscribe date so we never email you again by mistake. You can ask us to delete it completely.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you,
- correct it,
- delete it, or
- stop sending you emails.
Depending on where you live (for example in California, other US states with privacy laws, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom), you may have additional rights, such as receiving a copy of your data, objecting to or restricting how we use it, and complaining to your local data protection authority. Where these laws apply, we rely on your consent to send marketing emails and on our legitimate interests to run and protect the site. We won’t treat you differently for exercising your rights.
To make a request, email [email protected] with the subject “Privacy request”. We may need to confirm your email address before acting on it.
Children’s privacy
Fork & Kite is made for parents and caregivers. Some pages include coloring sheets and activities for kids to enjoy with an adult, but the site isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
International visitors
We’re based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the US and other countries. Those countries may have different data protection laws than where you live.
Security
We use reputable providers, encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limited access to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
Links to other sites
Our pages may link to other websites, such as Pinterest or shops. Their privacy practices are their own, so please review their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Fork & Kite grows. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top, and if the changes are significant we’ll let subscribers know by email.
